This is part of my pool series and explores combinations of color. I spent most of my summers in a pool since both sides of grandparents had one. They represent that memory of carefree youth and the epitome of adult leisure. Put me by a pool and I feel instant glamor.

While I don’t advocate using tanning oil today, when I was younger I had older cousins and relatives who’d lie out by the pool with their significant others, everyone doused in it. I thought they were all SO cool, glistening in the sun and smelling like heaven. I haven’t seen it in decades but I won’t ever forget that brown bottle with gold writing on it. Hawaiian Tropic.
